New Consultant at Abergele Consulting Rooms

Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon and Knee Specialist, Mr Tony Smith, of North Wales Knee Clinic, is now holding regular private consultations at the Spire Abergele Consulting Rooms. Particular areas of expertise from the North Wales Knee Clinic are knee surgery, including sports injury, knee replacement and revision surgery.

When not working privately, Mr Smith practices at two NHS hospitals; he holds Consultant appointments with both The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital, Oswestry and the North Wales Trust at Wrexham. Last year, the North Wales Knee Clinic's Mr Tony Smith, implemented a new multi-disciplinary, patient focused approach to knee joint replacement with remarkable results. The Enhanced Recovery Service involves a carefully constructed multidisciplinary team, which guides patients through a structured, evidence based pathway of care to achieve excellent results.

Mr Smith said, "I am enjoying providing a fast, convenient and efficient service in looking after people's knees in North Wales. My patients requiring knee replacement, have been amazed at the rapid service we are able to give. They experience very little pain and return to their normal activities, including work and driving, much more quickly than with conventional methods. Likewise sports people are anxious to get back to their sport and our specialist service means that we understand their injuries and motivation, so we can get them moving effectively again much more quickly."

Operational since September 2009, the six brand new Spire Abergele Consulting Rooms, with a fully equipped X-ray Department, are situated on the North Wales Business Park, Abergele, with easy access from the A55. A wide range of services are available for the insured and non-insured patient, including orthopaedic and general surgery, urology, dermatology, cosmetic surgery and cardiology. Any required surgery can be arranged with the same Consultant at the Spire Yale Hospital in Wrexham.
